Stormwater Wetland Park

Location: Haerbin, Heiongjiang, China
Architects: Turenscape
Area: 300000 sqm
Project year: 2010

Turenscape was comissioned to design a wetland park of 34,2 hectares right in the middle of the town. The site is sorrounded by roads and the wetland was under the threat of drought. Thanks to the Turenscape's strategy this landscape has been rescued.

Wetland park
The park has four design strategies:
1- The central part is untouched.
2- The outerring is a necklace of ponds-and-mounds that creates a stormwater filtrating and deposites the water into the wetlands.
3- On the ground level there are paths and platforms where the visitors can have a walk throught the forest.
4- The upper layer is composed by platforms, pavilons and viewing towers connected by skywalks. There, the visitors can have distant views and observe the nature in the center.

In my opinion, this idea is so original. It saves the wetlands and get people more interested in nature. Also, I think that these design makes the landscape modern and different than the others.
